New Children's Book!

Super excited to announce a new big project in the works! After Down East in the Ocean was complete, DownEast Enterprises asked me to illustrate another children's book! No official title yet, but I do know that the book will be released in early Summer 2012. The story will be about how a piece of sea glass is made.  This will be a picture book, no manuscript, so the whole story will be told through my illustrations--no pressure there, right!? But I'm really excited for the challenge and I think it's going to be a great concept and beautiful style. Stay tuned for more details and sketches as I begin the book process!

This is my second book and I'm really excited about it and happy with how it turned out! I can't wait until it's published in May. This book was so much fun to do, was a fast turnaround, but well worth the late nights and hard work. 

An extra fun aspect for me is that Down East in the Ocean was written by Connie & Peter Roop. They are the authors of many, many, books...including one in particular that I grew up with and simply adored, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie. 

Fun fact: First publication was the year I was born!

Pretty cool how life will give you a little wink and a nudge like that every once in a while.

The second children's book that I've illustrated, Downeast in the Ocean, will be available in May this year. Here are a few illustrations from the book! All are done in pen and ink pointallism, with washes of watercolor.

Currently working hard at my next children's book, called Downeast in the Ocean being published by Downeast Publishing (wohoo!). This round of sketches is just about approved, so far so good, just waiting for the final okay to get them all polished up and move onward to the final illustrations. The final artwork will be done with colored ink in pointallism...oh yes. The whole thang. Dots, dots, dots!

Hello! I haven't had a moment to post anything lately, as I've been super busy wrapping up my first book, My Maine, and working on the cover illustration of my next book, Downeast in the Ocean! It's been a crazy month or two to say the least, but all in the best possible way, so I really can't complain.

New Book!

Haven't had a chance to add any recent posts, been busy working on the final paintings for my first children's book, My Maine. Will try to post a sneak peek soon!

In the meantime, I received a call from an editor at DownEast Publishing and have signed on to illustrate my second book! It'll be called Downeast in the Ocean, a counting book 1-10 featuring all kinds of fun creatures who live in the ocean. I'm so excited to get started I think it'll be a great book. Plus working with DownEast is a pretty amazing opportunity.
